Mouse Restrainer for Intravenous (IV) Tail Vein Injections

The mouse restrainer from Jeffery Consulting, LLC is designed to facilitate mouse tail vein injections. This restrainer is the byproduct of combining the best features from all methods and devices in to one single restrainer as determined by expert animal technicians that have performed tens of thousands of IV injections for over a decade. The outside dimensions of this compact restrainer are ~2.5″ (height) x ~4″ (length) x ~1.5″ (width). Mice ranging between 10-45 grams can be restrained for up to 60 minutes, as tested. Unique features of this restrainer include:

1. the head cone (not the traditional “nose” cone) which completely immobilizes the mouse head, preventing the animals from turning around

2. the head cone will not pinch off the nose of the animal causing them to asphyxiate

3. the head cone invites the mouse to willingly and easily insert their entire head in to the cone unlike traditional nose cones

4. the rectangular shape of the restrainer prevents the animal from rolling, allowing the technician to simply place the restrainer on its side so the lateral tail vein is in the desirable superior position

5. the sliding and removable trap door and head cone allows loading and unloading the animal head first and also makes cleaning easier

6. the rectangular shape provides space for flank tumors to conveniently fit in one of the upper corners

7. the rectangular shape permits the simple manufacturing and assembly of the restrainer, resulting in the lowest cost to you compared to similar devices on the market
